When Orioles manager Buck Showalter mentioned flying bags of peanuts while lamenting the conditions of Monday night’s 5-2 win over the Boston Red Sox, what seemed like a joke turned out to be true.
“It’s a tough night to play,” Showalter said. “It’s wet, cold, windy, people throwing peanut bags. You name it.”
In addition to a night of vitriol aimed at third baseman Manny Machado for his slide that injured Boston star Dustrin Pedroia, center fielder Adam Jones said in an interview with USA Today that he was the target of that bag of peanuts and much worse Monday.
