The Orioles re-acquired left-handed reliever Edgar Olmos in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later, the club announced Thursday.
The 25-year-old Olmos was an Oriole for 13 days this offseason. He was claimed off waivers on Dec. 10 – the final day of the winter meetings – from the Chicago Cubs. But the Cubs re-acquired him on Dec. 23 when they claimed him off waivers from the Orioles.
With left-hander Brian Matusz likely heading to the disabled list to open the season with a lower back strain, the Orioles are looking for additional left-handed relief depth.
