Ten games in, there are undeniable troubling signs for these Orioles. The starting rotation is vulnerable, and the offense has run hot and cold: they’re capable of putting up big bunches of runs sometimes, but truly good opposing pitching seems to dismantle them.
The Orioles’ best starting pitcher, as predicted, has been Zach Eflin, who’s given them a chance to win each of the two times he’s been on the mound. Eflin got an Opening Day win, limiting the Blue Jays to two runs in six innings with just two hits allowed and one walk. On April 2, he took a loss against Boston, but it wasn’t a bad outing, as he went six innings and allowed three runs—had his offense showed up for him that day the result could have been different.
