Barring a surprise reversal of trade talks, the final game that Manny Machado plays in an Orioles uniform will be tonight’s All-Star Game. Machado is batting seventh and playing shortstop for the American League. He may only get one at-bat before Astros/AL manager A.J. Hinch removes him. Depending on how the game plays out, Machado might not even have to make a play in the field while he’s in the game.
The game itself, of course, does not count for anything any more. Nothing that happens in it matters, unless there is a freak injury, which would be all kinds of awful for everyone involved.
