Outfielder Steve Pearce expressed confidence Sunday that the flexor mass issue in his right elbow would clear up quickly with the help of a cortisone shot, but in both the short and long term, his absence could be one the Orioles struggle to endure.
Pearce only arrived last Monday in a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays, and he’d made three starts for the 2016 Orioles, but his role was clear. He was going to start in right field against left-handed pitching, and even get a start or two against right-handers like he did Sunday in an effort to give stalwart Mark Trumbo some rest.
