BALTIMORE -- Adam Jones, who hadn't played since Wednesday, was not in the O's starting lineup Monday against the Red Sox, but he entered the game as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning, playing center field. The Orioles won, 9-7.
"I think it's smart to not try to aggravate it," said Jones before the game.
He is dealing with rib cage soreness, which he said is not an oblique issue. Jones didn't expect to play Monday.
"I'm getting a lot better day by day, which is a positive thing," he said. "It's just frustration because I want to be out there playing, but I'll be a cheerleader again today, and hopefully I can get out there tomorrow.
