No one in the Orioles organization has told Joey Rickard that he's made the Opening Day roster, though executive vice president Dan Duquette implied as much when he said Tuesday that the 24-year-old outfielder has played his way onto the club.
Rickard, a Rule 5 pickup, certainly heard what the Orioles' top executive said about him after announcing in a television interview that South Korean outfielder Hyun Soo Kim was unlikely to make the Opening Day roster.
"That's something special," Rickard said of hearing Duquette's praise. "That's definitely something everyone's taking into consideration.
