Orioles manager Buck Showalter joked before Sunday’s series finale against the Cleveland Indians that he couldn’t take outfielder Hyun Soo Kim out of his starting lineup until his batting average dropped under .350.
Kim, the South Korean import whose spring training struggles were well documented, has found a home in the Orioles' batting order this week. And in making his fifth straight start Sunday, Kim provided the team’s game-winning hit in memorable fashion.
Kim’s first major league homer – a solo blast to right field off Indians reliever Jeff Manship in the seventh inning – snapped a tied game and provided the Orioles with a 6-4 victory over Cleveland in front of an announced 18,565 at Progressive Field.
