Brandon Hyde, the new manager of the Baltimore Orioles, is still studying film and calling players as he prepares for his first spring training with the team.
Brett Hollander talked to Hyde ahead of his appearance at the Baltimore Convention Center on Saturday for Orioles FanFest, a little over two weeks before pitchers and catchers report to Sarasota.
But for one Florida Marlins game in 2011, Hyde is a first-time manager. He said he's made a career out of learning on the job.
"You can't really prepare unless you do it," he said. "I've always been a grind coach that puts a lot of passion and just kind of put all my energy into my players.
