Hardy to receive PRP injection for groin issue

KANSAS CITY -- Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy will not join the team in Kansas City. He will instead stay in Baltimore to receive a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection on Thursday for his left groin injury.

Hardy could meet the team in Texas this weekend, but that's uncertain as manager Buck Showalter acknowledged that Hardy will "be pretty sore" after the injection. The news does not change Hardy's timeline and the Orioles are still hoping he will be ready when his 15-day disabled list period is up on Sept. 8.

"He'll probably be, usually a two or three day [rest] from the injection, hoping by Monday, he'll be ready to get going again.
