Good morning Birdland,
Maybe the Orioles did add an ace at the deadline after all? Zach Eflin made his fourth start for his new team last night, and once again was terrific. Over six innings, the 30-year-old allowed one run on five hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts to lead the O’s to a 5-1 win over the visiting Red Sox.
Eflin now has a 2.13 ERA over 25.1 total innings since being dealt to Baltimore. For comparisons sake, Corbin Burnes has a 4.32 ERA over his last four starts. Of course, it’s a ridiculously small sample size, and Eflin is not suddenly better than Burnes.
