Former Maryland basketball player Traywon Reed, whose brief career in College Park ended abruptly last July when he was arrested on theft and assault charges, was sentenced Tuesday to 15 days in jail.
According to al.com, a Maryland judge ordered Reed, now a freshman center at Auburn, to begin his sentence on May 11. Reed pleaded guilty to second-degree misdemeanor assault in December.
Along with point guard Melo Timble, the 7-1 1/2 Reed was considered the centerpiece of a top-10 recruiting class when he was arrested last July after scuffling with police outside a College Park 7-Eleven.
