Hemond, considered to be among one of baseball's most respected officials, retired in 2017. The Rhode Island native spent seven decades in the MLB, eight of those years came with the Orioles.
Hemond was named Major League Baseball's Executive of the Year in 1989 with the Orioles, second of his career, after improving the team's record by 32 1/2 games from what it was the season prior.
