Chris Davis has hit enough home runs in his life to know not to admire them. But when he does it in front of a crew of minor leaguers who don’t see that kind of power often, that doesn’t stop them from gawking.
As Davis jumped between the Double-A and Triple-A games Tuesday at Twin Lakes Park, his long home run in his fifth at-bat off Red Sox minor leaguer Kevin McAvoy flew into the woods in right-center field. Some of the minor league pitchers who were watching spent the next inning or so debating whether the ball went into or over the full-grown trees beyond the fence.
