Mike Elias called Zach Eflin the best starting pitcher moved at this year’s Trade Deadline. Eflin backed up his GM’s words in a big way Friday, leading the Orioles to a 4-1 win against the team that traded him.
If you thought Eflin’s first two starts as an Oriole were good, then his outing against the Rays was great. Pitching with a lead from the first time he took the mound, Eflin showcased his typically impeccable control, pounding the zone with cutters and sinkers. In the bottom of the 1st, he buried a sinker inside to Yandy Díaz to get him to pop out to foul territory.
