Early Orioles notes: Despite rainout, Castro could receive starting opportunity

Tuesday’s rainout robbed right-hander Miguel Castro from receiving his first start of the season, but Castro might only have to wait a few more days for that opportunity.

Castro was slated to start Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, but after Tuesday’s game against Philadelphia was rained out, right-hander Andrew Cashner was pushed back to start Wednesday. Castro will now be available to pitch out of the bullpen on Wednesday or Thursday, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

Showalter said that Castro is a candidate to fill an open starting spot for Sunday’s series finale at Fenway Park.
