The Baltimore Orioles announced on Thursday afternoon that they have released outfielder Delmon Young.
The 29-year-old appeared in 52 games this season and was batting .270 with two home runs and 16 RBI. Young is in his 10th season in the major leagues and holds career marks of a .283 batting average with 109 home runs.
With more outfielders than relievers, according to Dan Connolly and Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun,Young was designated for assignment on July 1 in order to fit reliever Tyler Wilson on the roster.
