Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said he has confidence that he will be able to trade Delmon Young, who the club designated for assignment Wednesday evening.
“Delmon is a qualified major league hitter,” Duquette said. “And hopefully we will be able to find a spot for him in a few days.”
The team now has 10 days to trade, release or ask waivers on Young, who hit .270 with two homers in 52 games for the Orioles this year.
Duquette said current trade talk is not limited to Young, and that it will continue throughout the month to help the Orioles improve their roster.
