The Baltimore Orioles' season may not have ended the way fans wanted it, but the grass is greener on the other side of spring training.
Quite literally, actually. Starting Thursday, crews are working on replacing 105,000 square feet of Kentucky bluegrass sod at the stadium. That effort is expected to be completed by Dec. 1. The sod was last replaced in the fall of 2008.
Twelve tractor trailers delivered the 400 tons of new sod from Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, N.J.
The sod was last replaced in the fall of 2008. In the eight seasons on the old sod, the Orioles played 651 home games, going 358-293, including 3-3 in postseason games.
