The Orioles made the promotion of prospect Coby Mayo official ahead of Friday night’s game in Cleveland. The big third baseman had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of being listed in the lineup for the game. As a corresponding move, the Orioles announced that infielder Livan Soto, who arrived with the team only yesterday, has been optioned back to Norfolk. Further, reliever Matt Krook was outrighted from the roster.
Mayo’s arrival loads up another spin on an infield entirely made up of Orioles draftees. The third baseman will be playing alongside shortstop Gunnar Henderson, second baseman Jackson Holliday, and first baseman Ryan Mountcastle.
