Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his wife Jill gave $3 million to expand the University of Maryland Children's Hospital at the University of Maryland Medical Center, hospital officials announced Monday.
The gift, the largest ever donation from a Baltimore athlete to UMMC, will support the construction of a state-of-the-art pediatric hybrid catheterization and operating room that will help the hospital support the needs of children locally, regionally and nationwide.
“This remarkable gift from Chris and Jill Davis will benefit children throughout the state of Maryland and beyond,” Dr. Mohan Suntha, UMMC President and CEO,said in a statement.
