Bases-loaded hit in 11th inning lifts Angels over Orioles, 5-4

Orioles right-hander Miguel Gonzalez had another short outing Sunday afternoon, but the Orioles’ power bats rallied to tie the Los Angeles Angels before falling in 11 innings, 5-4.

Tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the 11th, Orioles reliever Chaz Roe (2-2) served up a leadoff double and then Johnny Giavotella struck out after fouling off a bunt attempt.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter then brought in lefty Brian Matusz, who got Kole Calhoun to strike out. Showalter then had Matusz intentionally walk Mike Trout and Albert Pujols to load the bases with lefty David Murphy coming to the plate.
