Don’t look now, but the Baltimore Orioles are playing like a real baseball team — they’ve gone 3-2 since the end of their nine-game losing streak. Last night’s victory over the Atlanta Braves may have been the most satisfying yet, as fallen star Chris Davis came up big with his first home run since May 9.
Davis compiled a .100/.179/.100 slash line in 67 plate appearances between May 19 and June 11, the date of his most recent game before last night. The Birds’ 10-run performance was obviously a team effort, and Manny Machado was the one who delivered the go-ahead homer in extras, but after a long stretch of putrid play, Davis’ star shined the brightest of all.
