As Joey Rickard emerges for Orioles, Hyun Soo Kim's future becomes unclear

With Hyun Soo Kim’s future with the Orioles reportedly uncertain, manager Buck Showalter on Sunday was hesitant to endorse the South Korean outfielder's chances of making the big league roster.

According to a Fox Sports report Saturday, the Orioles have had internal discussions about the possibility of releasing Kim from his two-year, $7 million contract so that he can return to the Korean Baseball Organization, where he was one of the league’s top players for the past decade.

The Orioles made a similar move last year with right-hander Suk-min Yoon, working a deal to release him from his contract and negotiating his return to the Kia Tigers of the KBO.
