Tony Taters is headed to the All-Star Game after all. The Orioles might not have had as many All-Stars announced on the initial roster as fans might have liked, but with injured players sitting out, replacements have gotten them Jordan Westburg and now, on Thursday, Anthony Santander. The switch-hitting former Rule 5 pick was named to replace Houston’s Kyle Tucker, who’s been on the injured list since June 3.
Santander joins the fan-voted starters Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman, player-chosen reserve Corbin Burnes, and fellow roster replacement Westburg to give the Orioles five All-Stars. It’s an exciting marker of the quality that the team has shown this season and the fact that there have been so many standout individual performances helping to fuel where the team sits in the standings right now.
