For seven and a half innings tonight, the Orioles were headed to another dismal loss. Poor starting pitching. An offense that looked asleep at the wheel. It felt like a rerun of so many games we have watched the Orioles play lately, and I for one was getting cranky.
Then came the bottom of the eighth inning. Down 5-2, I was counting down the outs until the game came to an end. I admit, I had lost the faith. But then Colton Cowser lined a single to right field. Adley Rutschman poked a ground ball back up the middle and Cowser scooted over to third base.
