The Baltimore Orioles were looking to upgrade their starting pitching rotation before the deadline, and they went out and got that addition in Wade Miley, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports:

Baltimore was specifically seeking a left-handed pitcher, and Miley was one of the best on the market. Several teams contacted Seattle about Miley, but the Orioles turned out to be the most serious suitors.
Both the Orioles and Mariners had been discussing a deal centered around Miley towards the end of this past week, but talks really intensified on Sunday.
The Mariners acquired Miley in an offseason trade with the Red Sox, but he has fallen short of Seattle's expectations for him. He is 7-8 with a 4.98 ERA in 19 starts this season.
