NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Days before the sports world shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, Nic Besecker put together an impressive bullpen at Prep Baseball Report's preseason preview showcase.
The New Castle senior pitcher said it was "a turning point," in terms of his recruitment. Flashing a fastball that sat between 87-89 miles per hour, Besecker went from being in communication to a few schools to fielding calls from programs across the country.
That exposure helped get the 5-11 right-hander in touch with Virginia Military Institute (VMI), the Division I baseball program he signed with last Friday.
