'You compete to win': No. 10 Ball State men's volleyball is thriving with new coaching staff

MUNCIE, Ind. — Donan Cruz is a proven winner.

Cruz' resume at the NAIA level showed as much. At Grand View, Cruz compiled a 211-55 record, which made him the winningest NAIA coach with a .793 winning percentage, to go along with two national championships and four national coach of the year honors.

When Cruz arrived in Muncie after being named Ball State's fourth-ever men's volleyball coach, graduate Colin Ensalaco said the players could feel that winning energy right away.

"You could tell," Ensalaco said. "From the moment he walked into the gym he expected a lot out of us and the guys rose to the challenge and everyone has been responding.
