INDIANAPOLIS — For four years, Yorktown's Walker Moore and Cole Whitehead have been chasing down history.
Moore looked up in the Tigers' gym every day with the goal to beat the school's shot put and discus records while Whitehead had his eyes set on the 400-meter record.
Throughout their careers, Yorktown coach Jared Turner has always told them to throw and run their best when it's needed most.
They listened.
Competing on the biggest stage — the 2021 IHSAA boys track and field state finals — Moore surpassed his personal record in the shot put and crushed the school record in the discus with throws of 56-3 3/4 and 169 1/2, respectively.
