GASTON, Ind. — Sophomore Caitlin LaFerney's family hosted a Yorktown softball team dinner on Friday before its Delaware County tournament run.
As the Tigers enjoyed Mexican food, senior Alanah Jones thought it'd be fun to wear eye black sprinkled with green glitter, and assistant coach Sonya Willis suggested making rally hats, to "spice up" Saturday's games.
Each player was given a black plastic fedora, decorated with a green or sparking band that paired with scribbles from a green marker. It was the first time Yorktown softball did this.
It's another example that, although the Tigers have won four of the last five county championships, this year's team is the closest of all.
