GASTON, Ind. — In 2019, Yorktown lost in the semifinal round of the Delaware County softball tournament and went on to make a run to the Class 3A state championship game.
So, no, winning county isn't indicative of any postseason success the Tigers (13-3) may or may not have when the state softball tournament begins in two weeks.
What could suggest that Yorktown can have success in the sectionals and beyond, however, is how the Tigers won this year's county tournament.
In three games, Yorktown outscored its county opponents 38-3. In those three games, three different pitchers took the mound, giving up a combined seven hits.
