YORKTOWN, Ind. — Jacob Stephenson didn't start wrestling until middle school. By the time he started competing, he was already a few years behind some of his teammates in terms of experience.
But not in terms of passion.
Stephenson, a 2015 Yorktown graduate, said joining the sport "later than a lot" of his peers kept him from getting burnt out. He was always eager to learn new techniques, which led to a successful high school career, landed him a spot on the Wabash wrestling team in college and pushed him into coaching.
Now Stephenson, who was named Yorktown's varsity wrestling coach last week, wants to instill what he's learned in an up-and-coming Tigers squad.
