YORKTOWN — The first time Meghan Stevens and Cecile Rousseau played together last season, it came as a surprise. Both were on Yorktown’s junior varsity and were alternates for a varsity invitational, so they didn't expect time on the court.
But Tigers coach Bob Darby put them into the lineup, and now Yorktown’s No. 1 doubles duo can look back and laugh.
“I was unprepared. I was on a coffee high and like shaking,” Rousseau said. “But we won!”
No longer just junior varsity alternates, Stevens, a senior, and Rousseau, a sophomore, are flourishing as full-time doubles partners.
