YORKTOWN, Ind. — Scott Smalstig will be the first to admit: he's not the best on Twitter.
But as Scott, father of Yorktown senior baseball player Gehrig Smalstig, sat at home each night watching ESPN's Scott Van Pelt honor athletes who had their senior year cut short, he thought about Yorktown's baseball team. He thought about his son and the 10 other seniors on the Tigers' squad that played together since they were 8 years old and how they wouldn't be able to have what should've been their final season together because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
For weeks, Scott saw teams and players across the country honored during Van Pelt's late-night "SportsCenter" show after tweeting at him.
