MUNCIE, Ind. — Looking ahead to the start of his senior season with New Castle basketball, Cole McDaniel didn’t hold back when talking about the loss that ended the Trojans’ most recent campaign.
It was a 65-59, two-possession defeat in March at home against eventual sectional runner-up Hamilton Heights. McDaniel, New Castle’s leading scorer that season, didn’t feel as if he’d played as well as he should have in the first half. It’s a misstep that’s still on his mind, all these months later after a second-half comeback fell short.

But McDaniel isn’t afraid to watch the film of that loss.
