MUNCIE, Ind. — Through the first half of the basketball season, Delta was playing in the shadows of last year's team.
Whether it was from outside noise or from themselves, the Eagles couldn't seem to shake the comparisons to that one-loss, regional runner-up squad. Sure, this year's Class 3A No. 9 Delta team has been winning plenty of games in its own right, but, even in dominant victories, there always seemed to be something missing.
The Eagles were looking for a game where it could separate itself from last year's team once and for all. A game where it could show that, no, this isn't last year's team — and that's OK.
