SYLVANIA, Ohio -- Freshman Timothy Wiseman led the Ball State men's golf team Thursday as the Mid-American Conference Championships opened.
Wiseman posted a 36-hole total of 149 (72-77) in cold, wet conditions at Highland Meadows Golf Club. He reached as high as fourth on the leaderboard late in round one and finished the day in 14th.
Ball State ended the day in eighth place as a team with a score of 610 (300-310). The Cardinals were fourth after the morning 18 holes but dropped back with a tough afternoon round.
Defending individual champion Johnny Watts (152) matched Wiseman with an opening 72 to tie for fifth before dropping back to a tie for 22nd with a second-round 80.
