Winchester's 6-9 big man Payton Sparks commits to Ball State basketball

WINCHESTER, Ind. — Conditioning and talking to college coaches. That's largely what Payton Sparks has been doing over the past few months.

The Class of 2021 big man will continue to work on his athleticism but he'll no longer be bothered by a barrage of phone calls and texts while trying to hang out with his family. On Friday, Sparks announced his verbal commitment to Ball State University.

"Right now, I just felt like it was the best fit for me," Sparks told The Star Press. "And the coaching staff, I really liked their background and coach (James) Whitford is a big coach and I feel like he can push me to that next level.
