INDIANAPOLIS – It will cost the Pacers a hefty price if they re-sign Paul George to a long-term deal. However, new team president Kevin Pritchard says the franchise won’t be handcuffed by fear of paying the NBA’s luxury tax.
“I don’t even like talking about a small market,” said Pritchard, following his Monday news conference. “We are a market. We are a competitive market. We’re given every opportunity to succeed. Going into the tax will always be challenging, but I’ve never heard (owner) Herb (Simon) say, ‘Hey listen, we can never go into the tax.
