MUNCIE, Ind. — On Sept. 14, Joel Godett asked Ball State President Geoffrey S. Mearns a question during a radio appearance on Muncie's Sports Station.
Godett, BSU Athletics’ director of broadcasting, asked Mearns about the potential for sports in the Mid-American Conference to return earlier than previously announced. With reports circulating at that time that the Big Ten Conference might change its decision to postpone fall sports to the spring, Godett asked Mearns how much that discussion gets revisited among presidents of MAC schools. And at first Mearns replied in jest, saying he’s told BSU athletic director Beth Goetz it’s a priority that the football game between the Cardinals and Michigan Wolverines gets rescheduled.
