MUNCIE, Ind. — For Ball State baseball coach Rich Maloney, it wasn’t a matter of if he’d ever lose his pitching coach to an opportunity with a Major League Baseball team, but when.
Dustin Glant didn’t arrive in Muncie for his first day on the job ahead of the 2017 season devoid of any talent to work with. His predecessor Chris Fetter, who the Los Angeles Dodgers hired away in 2016, built a strong staff for Glant to nurture. And nurture, Glant did.
The Cardinals grew the number of strikeouts they recorded from 491 in Glant’s first season to 628 in 2019.
