MUNCIE, Ind. — There were times when she just wanted to walk away.
Central junior Aaliyah Barnes had already been to state in her first two seasons. As the Bearcats' 100 hurdles standout, she false-started as a freshman and her sophomore year, she missed the finals by six-thousandths of a second.
But even after arly this season, she struggled to focus on track.
"My head wasn't in it. I almost quit multiple times, I just didn't want to do it anymore," Barnes said. "It just wasn't fun at all."
It's good that she stuck with it, as she's competing on Saturday at the state finals in the 100 hurdles.
