MUNCIE, Ind. — While much of Indiana is in a very summer-like weather pattern, Ball State football will kick off its season in just eight weeks.
The Cardinals’ 2018 campaign didn’t bring what many would have hoped. Twice Ball State, which went 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the Mid-American Conference, lost three games in a row. Three losses came by one possession. The year finished with a 21-point loss in late November against Miami (Ohio). And along with the normal roster changes that come each year with graduation, the Cardinals also lost quarterback Riley Neal and running back James Gilbert to transfers — Neal to Vanderbilt and Gilbert to Kansas State.
