Earlier this week, the Indiana High School Athletic Association approved sectional assignments for boys and girls basketball, football, boys and girls soccer and volleyball.
Enrollment figures didn't play a role in the reclassification. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IHSAA voted to "freeze enrollment numbers for one year," meaning teams that meet the tournament success factor criteria will be the only ones moving up or down a class.
In East Central Indiana, that had no impact on boys and girls soccer, boys basketball or football teams. It did, however, see a few area volleyball teams move up or stay up a class and one girls basketball team move down a class.
