‘What a way to start’: Yorktown football trounces Anderson by 48 points in season opener

ANDERSON, Ind. — As Yorktown football coach Mike Wilhelm stood on the field Friday night after his team’s season-opening win on the road at Anderson, he marveled at the way his players started the game.

On the first play from scrimmage, Anderson starting from its own 23 yard line, Yorktown forced and recovered a fumble that set up a drive that ended with four-yard touchdown run by sophomore Jack Stinson. On the first play of Anderson’s second offensive series, Yorktown forced and recovered another fumble that set up another short drive that ended with a Yorktown score — a five-yard rushing touchdown by senior Jamarius Evans with 8:03 remaining in the first quarter.
