PARKER CITY, Ind. — Monroe Central baseball is sick of second place.
The Golden Bears were 2021's runners-up in the Mid-Eastern Conference, and in sectionals the last two full seasons. Wapahani bested them each time, most recently via a walk-off Raiders home run for the sectional title.
Monroe Central is ranked third in the latest IHSBCA's Class 2A poll, yet again right behind Wapahani. It's fair, but the team is tired of coming up short.
"We're hungry. We keep getting beat by (Wapahani), it just sucks all the time," senior All-State catcher Joel Kennedy said.
