INDIANAPOLIS — The eyes of an Olympian were on Emily Weiss.
The Yorktown sophomore spotted Lilly King, the two-time Rio de Janeiro gold medalist, near the start of Saturday's girls state swimming competition at the IU Natatorium.
Two years ago, King set the state record in the 100-yard breaststoke as a student at Evansville Reitz. The next year, Weiss won the event, but was over two seconds away from King's 59.63-second time.
Over the summer, Weiss watched on TV as King won Olympic gold.
Weiss broke King's record on Saturday by swimming a 59.
