WATCH: Elam Ending discussed on ESPN's PTI

MUNCIE, Ind. — Remember Nick Elam? He is the Ball State professor who doubles as a Cincinnati Reds groundskeeper, while also trying to save the ending of basketball games in his spare time.

We published a profile on Elam on June 30 and explained his idea of eliminating the clock in the final minutes of basketball games and instead establishing a target score that the winning team has to reach. The idea is to create a more natural ending that doesn't feature choppy play caused by intentional fouls. The Basketball Tournament, the $2 million tournament which is on ESPN's family of networks all summer, is using the "Elam Ending" in all of its games.
