FRANKTON, Ind. — Chandler Wise and Stephen Vickery hung around the first base dugout a few minutes longer than the rest of their teammates Thursday night. The only two Wapahani seniors on this season’s team pondered the beauty – and frustration – of baseball.
It was only a year ago that an unranked Wapahani team made a run to the Class 2A state final, knocking off four ranked teams along the way. And here on Thursday night, Wapahani – the preseason No. 1 team in 2A and ranked ninth heading into the postseason – lost its first sectional game, bowing out with a 3-1 loss to Lapel.
